RV Training - Code 20 & 51
Code
20 & 51 endorsements are the required license endorsements to pull
commercial trailers (code20) and Recreational Vehicle Trailers (code
51) that are over 4600 Kilograms in weight and neither the truck or
trailer have air brakes.
RoadRunner Driving Academy offers hands on training, unlike other schools
that only offer you theory (not hands on, only classroom and videos).
Our instructors work with you from start to finish providing you hands
on training using your own vehicle.

2) Is this really necessary, I know lots of people who pull RV’s
over 4600 KG that don’t know anything about a code 51 let alone
having one?
It is law to have a code 51 endorsement if pulling a Recreational Trailer
exceeding 4600 Kilograms provided neither the truck nor trailer has air
brakes.
It is also law to have a code 20 endorsement if pulling commercial trailers
or towed vehicles exceeding 4600 Kilograms provided neither the truck
nor trailer has air brakes.
3)
What are the steps to getting the Code 51 or 20 placed on my license?
How to Apply for a House Trailer Endorsement
1. Study the training guide (available from our office)
2. Apply for a learner’s licence at an ICBC driver licensing office.
You will be required to:

all of the above, provided you do not have a medical condition that requires
pre-approval. A learner’s licence is valid for one year.

truck and recreational trailer combination.
Note: You must bring the same identification you used
to apply for your learner’s licence (Step 2) and the fee for your
test.
